Well as usual, my wild card of being Chinese has surprised everyone! This has been the story of my life. So here's a few stories about my life as a Happa!
My best friend in grade school was Chinese. Well I don't look it, so when Tracy, my mom and I would be out shopping somewhere and my mom ran into an old friend they'd be so excited to meet my mom's children they would automatically look straight to Tracy (since she was the Chinese one) then my mom would say no the other one, ME (The white one).
Enter college where I took Asian American Studies, in most of the classes they would always ask in the first few days of class some personal questions about what nationality you were, where your family is from and what generation you are. Well I silently was loving it because I know the whole class would get a kick out of it. I'm almost near the end of the go around, finally my turn comes. I tell them my name and that I'm half Chinese and half German, I'm 2nd generation and my family came from Canton, China. Silent.... silent... GASP!!! Literally the whole room gasped! It was hilarious probably the best part of that class was telling them that I was half.
Another time in college was when I met my now best friend Wendy (Who's Chinese). Well she remembers when we first met I told her that I was Chinese. She didn't believe me and told me "You don't have to lie to kick it" I told her no seriously I really am Chinese! When I went out to dinner with her family I brought a photo of my family to show her and her dad because they didn't believe me. We even share the same nick name which is Nui-Nui it stands for little girl, or girl in Chinese. It's a generic name that most families will use.
I also have a Chinese name that was given to me when I was born aside from my American name of Jennifer, I don't know how to spell it in english I can only write it in Chinese. My family doesn't call by my given Chinese name, only my nickname because I'll always be their little girl.
And as always here's some pictures to prove it!! =)
This is me, my mom Linda my in the middle and her sister (my crafty influence) Auntie Nancy. People normally guess my mom is Hispanic or from Hawaiian descent. Which fits because she loves Hawaii and would eat Mexican food every day if she could.
This is my uncle Ronnie he's my second dad!
Here's the winner! My mom is from a family of 6 siblings. There's 4 boys and 2 girls. This is everyone except me and one other uncle. Our grandparents have passed on but they left quite a big legacy.
From there you get 8 grandchildren. Here's the boys in our family, my brother is the only white one in the photo! Although he tends to look more like most half Chinese and half caucasian's where it's dark hair and light skin. I scored I got semi brown hair and nice golden skin! =) or beige as I call myself.. Not yellow..
See I am Chinese! I've had plenty of people not believe me..

His mom is from Guam and is 100% Guamanian, she looks Phillipino and people used to think that she was Justin's nanny.
