Okay my fellow sorority girls, did you know that today is
International Badge Day?
Yes that's right, I'm sporting my badge at work. I didn't even remember it was today, but I was on my way to work and checked FB status updates and a active AGD had posted it.
Lucky and strange for me, I had my badge in my car, yes sadly that's not the home it deserves, but I went to rush last fall and I left it in my car since then, but it's still at home in it's own pin box that my big sister made for me back in Fall of 2002 so that makes me alittle happier.
I feel silly posting this because (I might sound like a crazed sorority girl) but some girls after going alumnae either have good experiences or bad ones. They either don't want to participate in events after graduation or they do, well I do love to go to events I just find it hard since it's all back in San Francisco. But I really loved my time in Alpha Gamma Delta so I still read up on the chapter on their site, as well as read my Alpha Gamma Delta Quartely newsletter/magazine. I only wish Sacramento had a local alumane group so I can get to know some new sisters, but we don't but I'm still great friends with all my girlfriends from AGD. So on a day that would be any other day, I still wear my badge with pride! A fellow co-worker saw it and knew right then it was my sorority badge (since she was a sorority girl too) and said she would have worn her's if she knew.
Here's some fun facts about International Badge Day from the National Panhellenic Council site.

A: Monday, March 1, 2010.
Q: When did International Badge Day start?
A: The celebration to honor sisterhood was started in 1997 by the National Panhellenic Conference. The date is generally recognized during March, which is also National Women’s History Month and set aside for International Women’s Day. The inaugural campaign was titled: “It’s as Simple as Wearing your Pin … With Pride.”
Q: Who started this tradition?
A: The creation of this event was the idea of a sorority woman. In the spring 1996 issue of Alpha Sigma Alpha’s “The Phoenix,” Nora M. Ten Broeck wrote an article titled: “A Simple Solution—Wear Your Membership Badge Today.” The article described her personal experience of wearing her sorority pin to work one day.
Here's our lovely badge Alpha Gamma Delta badge shown proudly on my dress here at work!
Did any of you remember to wear your badge?
(Our house letters sweat shirt used to be Red, Yellow (Buff), and Green and people thought we were a rasta sorority lol, I love Bob Marley but not that much) lol

7 Lovely Notes:
Whoops!! Isn't it funny how when you were in college they made "Badge Day" a big deal??? hahaha-- I didn't even know that was today. Sorry to my fellow Delta Gamma ladies out there- my anchor is NOT on =)
Awe, I would have worn mine if I knew! Funny that you have an alum group here but not in Sac when I have one in Sac but not here!
I did not wear my badge today, I could've totally worn it at work but I didn't find out until already at work :( but I'm going to my first meeting as an alum tonight (: Happy Badge day!
Oh, I love that photo of you!! SO PRETTY!! :-)
CUTE photo of you :) I did not wear my badge, mainly b/c I didn't leave the house, lol. My sorority days were tons of fun and my bestest friends in the world are sisters of mine from college. :)
stumbled upon your blog from another blog! i didn't know it was badge day! i would have worn my AGD badge too! i was an AGD at Ark. State University! good to find a fellow squirrel blogger :)
Well, I'm not an AGD, I'm a Phi Mu, but I know what you mean about badge day being a big deal. I didn't wear my badge on Badge Day because I also probably didn't leave my house but I did wear it on our Founder's Day which we had on March 8. Thanks for sharing! I actually knew when I saw that blog post that it was probably the badge day relating to sororities and not something to do with girlscouts or something, haha.
