Weekend Wrap Up

Happy Monday... I think..
I started my weekend off semi - right.. That's if your definition of right means waking up at 5:30am to go to the gym but then deciding I want to sleep in and skip the gym.. (Yaaa I'll go later...riiggghhhttt).

Then yes I started it off right.. I even did 2nd day hair which is totally not me.. But managed to pull myself together and made it to work, then helped myself out by taking a half day on Friday so I got home early, cleaned up the daily craft room disaster, finished up some logo designs on PhotoShop (my new favorite thing) then got a mani pedi! All in time before the honey came home.

I tried a delicious recipe from Laura's blog Black Bean and Corn Salsa on Friday night which was soooo good.  Make it asap!

**And a special congrats to her as Laura just announced she's pregnant!!!!**

Saturday we shopped alittle I got some new items which included 3 pairs of new shoes!
I initially went into Nordies to use the loo' but then saw flashing red signs telling me to hit the half yearly sale so I scored a new pair of brown pumps for $35 bucks! Swwaaeet! They are enjoying their new home on my feet as we speak. I'm fresh what can I say..

Right before I bought those though, I was in another store telling my honey how my flip flops are on their last days.  When WHAM.. SNAP.. I broke them. Yup at the mall! Perfect timing if you ask me so I also got 2 pairs of sandals.
Buy One Get One Free?! Yesss please! I've been totally weirded out by these shoes too for some reason but I had to buy some so I'm a newby at these non thong flip flops.  So far so good.

We headed home and got ready for a Rivercats game but the tickets ended up being sold out for our vouchers and so instead of forking out $40 per ticket! That's not including beer and food I said "No wayyyy jose! We're going to dinner!" Where we hit up Mikuni's our hot spot sushi place in Sacramento.  Where we proceeded to meet a super nice couple who hadn't experienced a sake bomb.
This isn't us.. But it is a person perfecting the correct way to sake bomb.. With the 1, 2, 3 Sake Bomb and fist pounding to drop that sake into the cups.  I'm anti this version.. It gets messy and I find that pouring my sake into the cup is easier because the hot sake blends better before I have to gulp that down. So we did a sake bomb for the couples first time.

Then we all proceeded to try (our) the couple and myself, a OYSTER SHOOTER!! My honey has done many oyster shooters before, but it was my first Oyster Shooter..
Never heard of one of these? Here's the jist of it.. It's a shot of hot Sake, a dash of hot sauce, a dash of Ponzu, a raw Oyster and a raw Quail Egg finished off with a lemon slice.

I never ever thought I'd try these, but I like oysters but not a raw quail egg... How did it go you might ask? Surprisingly it was amazingly delicious.  So much in fact I had 3 of them by the nights end and might even had more.  The other girl loved it too so we both had more!  We finally headed home and of course passed out on the couch as Saturday ritual demands of us.  Maybe even after a bowl of ice cream if I recall.

Sunday we headed to the farmers market where I scored a beautiful bouquet of hydrangeas, I've been obsessed with these things lately I've been hunting down houses that have some so that I might one day knock on their door and ask if I can cut some of them! :) Plus I learned how to keep them fresh for weeks, by dipping the ends of the stems in Alum or Baking Soda before putting them in water and misting them every day with water. We'll see they recommend Alum but I didn't have that I used Baking Soda.

Then we headed to a bbq, where I made my famous macaroni salad which I'll share the details with come Wednesday morning for Watcha Making Wednesday.  Finished the night off with some other fun stuff then headed home and fell asleep on the couch... AGAIN..

Which leads us to where I am now... I woke up and I skipped the gym AGAIN this morning because I was so tired.. What is UP? I have no idea.. I'm hitting the gym after work though that's for sure.... Especially since today is lower body because come Friday me, my honey buns and Drake are doing this again for the 2nd time!
Backpacking!
It's a 5 mile hike into the lake and then out again on Sunday morning.  We're leaving Friday after he gets off work and heading up the mountain.
Drake probably doesn't know he has to put on his funny shoes again and carry in his own food!
I can tell ya this much.. I'm packing SOOOOO light.. I brought TONS of unnecessary items last year and I know what to bring this time!
The whole group last year.
We hiked back down 30 mins every day to fish at the better lake..
I didn't catch anything last year and was SUPER bummed. Which reminds me that we need to renew our fishing license too before Friday! Drake waiting patiently we have to keep an eye on him as he loves bobbers so he jumps in after them sometimes.

P.S. If you didn't notice it now.. I'm totally out of commission with our home computer.. It's getting fixed so I have no way to upload anything! But I didn't take many pictures anyways but I did score a super cute Fedora hat so I do want to show that.. Patience is a virtue? Not when I want to upload pictures!

You reminded me that I really need a mani/pedi - maybe I'll get one Friday. And don't worry, I totally missed the gym this weekend too. Slackers!

I love all the shoes you bought! Super cute.

Sake bomb - Never had one - Oyster shooter? Oh no way, sounds gross! Haha but I'm not big on seafood.

I love Drakes shoes haha. So funny that he actually keeps them on!

You're WAY braver than I ever could be. Oyster shooters... my boyfriend's parents served them on Thanksgiving... My boyfriend downed one... I went to down mine... but he barfed in the sink before I got to the oyster. THANK GOD! He distracted his family and I promptly tossed mine! Ick!! :)

OMG! Drake's shoes are so cute! I hike, occasionally, with Lucy and I always fear her paws are going to get hurt!

I still am not sure about those Oyster Shooters...sounds so nasty! Ha!
