The Joys of Owning a Home

This past weekend it was a rather mellow weekend which started out with meeting one of my girlfriends new beau's for cocktails Friday night.

We went to my favorite place in Sacramento to get some yummy appetizers which include calamari, sweet potato fries and bbq pork sliders.  *Sweet potato fries are my new favorite thing*

Saturday we pulled weeds in the backyard! Which to me this means putting my swimsuit on and pulling weeds in my bikini! What? You haven't thought about it! I got a tan and cleaned the yard? Score! Two things killed with one stone.  We played couch potatoes until I had to leave to babysit a pair of kiddies later that night.

We swam and then played a game of Monopoly World Edition which I was stoked they wanted to play Monopoly because it's my favorite game out there by far.  Well that was until I found out we were playing this World Edition.

Can we say WEIRD! Hello this game comes with NO PAPER MONEY, NO THIMBLE! (My player of choice) and with CREDIT CARDS?!!? WHOA.. I was shocked the whole game at how this thing was played.

No Boardwalk, Oriental Avenue, St. James Place, Reading Railroad NOTHING! We start out with 15 MILLION dollars and the little calculator is your bank.  W-E-I-R-D..
We never finished the game because these kids are far to energized for me, so we went for a bike ride to the frozen yogurt place to have some dessert then back to the house to swim in a 92 degree swimming pool at 8:30 at night!  It was a quick night and some easy money made spending it with two adorable kids.

Sunday we went to dim sum with my uncle and his girlfriend.  Are you fan of dim sum? Know what it is?

Dim sum is the Cantonese term for a type of Chinese dish that involves small individual portions of food, usually served in a small steamer basket or on a small plate. - Wikipedia

While you eat Dim Sum the servers come around with carts of the little plates like this
Or like these

It's a big thing here and there's a lot of restaurants to choose from but we have a few favorites we only go to.

Here's some of my favorite items (since if you haven't noticed it was a no photo weekend). I would recommend these items for all of you to try if you haven't been to dim sum before.

You can't go wrong with these items, all of which I consumed yesterday for brunch.

 Chinese Broccoli
Steamed Shrimp & Pork Dumplings
Egg Custards YUMMY my favorite! More like a dessert
BBQ Pork Pastry, these are very sweet and tasty!
Steamed bbq pork rice noodle, YUM the sauce is AMAZING... I ate the whole plate to myself
(Your suppose to share at Dim Sum)
Steamed Shrimp Balls
Fried Shrimp Balls
Coconut Bao for dessert most of the time
Sticky Rice - They didn't have any of these yesterday! :( They are my all time favorite item.
Our family usually orders at least like 3 of these for the table and then another 3 for me to take home :)

Maybe you haven't tried Dim Sum but I recommend you do.. It's hard though if you haven't been before and your not going with a Dim Sum regular.  A lot of stuff you won't know what's in it but you just have to try it to find out.

Then I went home slept off my dim sum food induced food coma and then woke up and cleaned the house for a few hours.  Then I preceeded to treat myself to a whole bottle of Riesling! YUM this is my favorite wine!

We took the dogs for a bike ride, Harley rode in the basket of my bike for the first time and didn't have any jump out attempts thank goodness, but I did almost fall on a wide turn but I saved us from disaster.

Nice relaxing weekend, not to mention I slept in both days and didn't exercise! Whoops but it felt great!

I love monopoly too but always end up playing monopoly jr. because of my little brother haha.

I've never been to or heard of Dim Sum. Seems interesting though :)

I wish I had a bike Snuggles could ride in! She would probably jump out though if she saw a bird or something.

Glad you had a great weekend and could sleep in! :)

Your brilliant!! Yard work & a tan!! When I had back surgery my mom bought a new monopoly...it was the same board as the old one but it had a calculator/atm thing instead of money..which I actually liked! I love that you put Harley in a basket!! SO SO cute :)
