Let’s just say I have a tiny addiction to make up. This is normal right? Some girls have shoes, (which I do), some girls buy clothes (which I do) this isn’t sounding good. But I realized something this morning I need to stop buying makeup. I have WAYYYYY to much and I never use practically any of it.
I read something awhile back that I keep quoting it was in reference to shopping for clothes but it really can be applied to everything dealing with beauty stuff “If you can’t wear it on a Tuesday night, don’t buy it. Most of us don’t lead Saturday night lives”. So put down that party dress, the purple makeup, eyelashes, black eye shadows. Sadly this is true, but then it goes to say “But don’t wait till you need it to buy it.” Then that means just continue onward right? LOL.. Probably not.. But I’ll keep this is mind a little more when shopping.
I mean some of my friends have little tiny make up bags and that to them is ALL their makeup they own. You say make up bag… I say make up drawer...

So needless to say there’s someone to blame for this addiction to make up.. My auntie.. I’ve loved all things girly from a very very young age. We’re talking I was plucking eyebrows at 12 years old and using rollers since I could talk (okay not really).. But you get the idea..

Yes folks I have a problem.. I am actually more intimidated of these brushes than anything I don’t know how to even begin to use them all.
So what’s the overall goal here after exposing myself to you all??
I need a better way to organize my makeup… It’s obvious I really don’t need to buy anything else (except a new Hula from Benefit and Dior Show mascara - which by the way smells like roses I kid you not).
I really want to get some better source of organization involved here not to mention I need to toss probably a bunch of stuff.. I’m not a toss type of girl. I think mascara works better when it’s older lol.

Holy cow, that is a lot of makeup, I don't even have 1/4 that amount! I'm lazy and don't even wear makeup on the weekends.

I've been thinking about organizing my make-up too. I saw where the Kardashians have these clear stackable drawers for their's and it seemed really cool. It just sat on their vanity. Just a thought.
you are crazy! i'm one of those little tiny makeup bag people. concealer, blush and mascara is all it takes for me. i can see how that would be a very expensive habit to form :)
Random comment that has nothing to do with this post, I saw your Thunder Valley commercial last night. My boo looked at me crazy when I got all excited and said "That's West Sac Honey!" then I had to explain :-/ Funny how when you follow someone's blog, even though they have no idea who you are, you feel like you know them. I think I've got about double this amount of makeup product (it's a bit over the top really) but recently I did a HUGE purge of older/unused products. I bought interlocking Rubbermaid drawer organizers that make really good use of my bathroom drawer space. (Round containers are not a good use of space.)
Clear plastic stacking drawers are great for holding product,(you can get them at any craft or hobby store.)
My advice would be to purge what you don't use regularly/love.
Store makeup like blush, lipstick,eyeshadow,bronzer, liners etc. in your "makeup" drawer, OTHER products like nail polish, makeup removers, creams, deodorant should be stored separately in another drawer or storage container.
And lastly, don't lay your brushes flat in the drawer, they can damage/squish. I store them brush side up in a container on the counter top.
(And don't be intimidated by all those brushes, half of them are basically useless anyway. Stick with the ones that seem useful for you!)
youtube beauty gurus usually show their collections and how to store it. I also did a blog post on how I store my brushes. I use the "sephora" vase with beads to hold up the brushes, I also have a rolly cart now with drawers. I am hoping for a stand alone vanity soon.

Oh wow!!! That is anlot of makeup!! I dont have that much, mostly since i dont reallynknow how to put it on (pretty much do same thing every day haha). Anyhow, just stumbled along to your blog and waned to tell you that you're beautiful, just like ur blog! Consider me ur newest follower!!

wow impressive! I thought I had a lot but you've definitely got me beat! I have a bunch of different make-up bags, one small one for the stuff I use everyday, another small one for the stuff I might want close, and then a really big bag filled with the rest I only use on occasion.

Crap.. that's a ton of makeup! I stick w/ one type of your basic products. Use it until it runs out and then re-buy. I hoard nail polish & eyeshadow. Those are my favs!! I need to invest in more brushes. I currently only have one eyeshadow brush that I wash and use daily. Feel free to send me some extras! ;)
I tend to skimp on makeup and splurge more on clothes!!
I must ask..how do you wash brushes?! That is my biggest issue!!

I keep mine in a roll-up bag...I love it! And it hangs and everything!
