Asian Lettuce Wraps Recipe

16 Boston Bibb or butter lettuce leaves
1 pound lean ground beef
1 tablespoon cooking oil
1 large onion, chopped
2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/4 cup hoisin sauce
2 teaspoons minced pickled ginger
1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
Asian chile pepper sauce (optional)
1 (8 ounce) can water chestnuts, drained and finely chopped
1 bunch green onions, chopped
2 teaspoons Asian (dark) sesame oil

I opted to use ground turkey instead of beef and I didn't have pickled ginger so I just used regular ginger.  I also got alittle carried away and doubled up my sauce because the first mix in of the sauce was clearly not enough for this saucey girl.

P.S. Saucey is my nickname and grab yourself a apron.. I like this one for me..

So we begin by chopping your onions

I just went ahead and browned the turkey and threw the onions in with it
I didn't care to waste another plate by moving the turkey out

While that is all cooking measure out your sauces, hoisin, soy, ginger, garlic, rice wine vinegar and hot sauce (the cock sauce) Hoisin sauce is soooo good I might have licked the spoon after

Then chop up your water chestnuts (that is unless you already bought them sliced) and your green onions, mine were fresh from the garden!
