A House to Home

Happy Monday Friends! For you readers out there you might not know this but over the past 2 years we’ve lived in our house without a backyard! Horrible yes, why? Because we own two dogs! Luckily we have a empty lot next to us and of course we have a front yard so they did their business out there.

But no more! This is the reason why I have been missing in action the last two weeks!!  We turned our dirt filled, weed filled, rock and gravel backyard from this:

AFTER

This is the hugest step forward finishing the house! CONCRETE AND GRASS!! I’m so proud of my honey!! He put all the drainage, sprinklers, irrigation etc in on his own!! As well he built me my own vegetable garden!  So nice to have a handy honey! xoxo

We have been overjoyed with the fact that we went from DIRT to CONCRETE to GRASS! All in two weeks FLAT!  The concrete was poured and last weekend (his birthday weekend) what a birthday present!

Then this past weekend my honey, our wonderful neighbor and myself laid the sod down.  The best weekend yet! :) Right in time for my birthday too!

All started with fill dirt to level out the whole grass area.

Then the task of leveling the whole thing out to make sure you don’t end up with flooding etc when the rain comes.

Use the roller thingy to flatten and compress the dirt.

Now it’s ready for some SOD!

We have the wonderful luxury of not having a house behind us or next to us so we backed the truck up right to the fence!

Amazing how just a few strips of grass can change the whole look for the backyard!!

*I swear I helped even though I’m not in the photos! I laid all that sod tucking the edges and making sure they are all joined together**

Almost done! My garden isn’t finished, but it will be finished up in time for spring time planting!  We of course need to plant trees, shrubs, flowers, more flowers and more flowers. But I know Harley and Drake are happy! Now they just have to wait 2 weeks before they can play outside!

After we finished the yard it was time to break out the furniture we’ve had waiting in the garage in BOXES for over 3 years!! I of course insisted we have dinner outside each night this weekend.

First dinner on the patio.. Consisted of left over pizza, chili and beer and wine.. Classy! Gourmet, no?

But we made up for it Sunday night! Our new patio set, with my own little candle light set up and placemats! I have some shopping to do for the backyard now! Lots of goodies to buy!

We put together the new grill on Sunday! Which also has been sitting in a box for 3 years.. That’s a Happy Honey!!

Me in our backyard! LOVE IT!

The two happy home owners! :)

And guess what else..

I’m having dinner on the patio again tonight, tomorrow night and the next night! Well maybe not Thursday because Grey’s starts! :)

I can’t wait for all the fun this backyard will bring us in the years to come! One day to put a gym set back there for our kids especially! I see lots of love and memories building up here!

Oh my gosh it looks soooooo good! I am very jealous! We have a strip of our backyard that runs alongside our house and grass will just never grow there so it always ends up as mud/dirt- I would love to pour concrete like you guys did!

It looks fantastic!!!
That's a lot of concrete for a backyard if you were in the south. We take more yard over more patio space. If you cut your grass in half, that's usually about how much concrete a yard will have. Give kiddos more room to run and play.
