After all these cooking recipes I try week after week my pantry was neglected to say the least. Last weekend I finally said THAT’S IT!
Especially when I saw that there were Weevils in my pastas! ARGH! (I’ll spare you a photo of these yucky bugs that love pasta more than me)
So after a big clean out of the pantry and a trip to Target and Ikea here is the BEAUTIFUL end result. I am still going to make some labels for each of the bins but AH sweet success!! I wish I would have done this SOONER!
I took EVERYTHING out of my pantry and threw away all pastas and expired food items that were never used and then this is the result. Don’t judge I have alot of food.. I know.. I have a hungry honey on my hands.
I couldn’t even take a before of the pantry because I was on a rampage to rid my pantry of all things yucky!
BEFORE

Let’s not forget how lucky you ladies are with walk in pantries. This is ALL the pantry space I have! LITERALLY all of it!! I hadn’t emptied out the top shelf which was all my baking supplies.
AFTER
I ran out of plastic bins for the last two shelves (Because I wiped out Target of all the bins they had) but you can see here that all my pastas are now kept in air tight containers from Ikea and everything is organized into their own bins.
There’s bins organized by Soups & Sauces, Beans & Veggies, Packaged Pastas, Snacks & Crackers, Envelope Packets, Teas & Powder Drinks, Asian Foods (Totally had to get it’s own!) and Breakfast Foods.
My sanity was saved by two trips to the store and about an hour of my time. Here’s what I bought for my pantry makeover. I even ended up returning some items thankfully. Also had to stock up on new pasta since the Weevils ate the rest (notice that Weevils have the word EVIL in it.. ) LOL.
P.S. You should totally get a lazy Susan thing for your spice cabinets! It’s amazing I didn’t have to dig through everything to find my spices at all!
My total cost for my pantry sanity party: $56.51 at Target for all my bins, $50.97 for the death of little weevils everywhere :) Grand total of $107.48 which is totally okay with me, since I had to throw out so many pasta boxes because of those stupid bugs!! I probably would have thrown out at least $40 of pasta!!
I don’t fear the pantry any more when I open those cupboard doors! :) Such a wonderful feeling! It’s a little slice of food heaven! Now I just have to restrain myself from over buying cans because I won’t have too much room!

OMG! I had those bugs in my pantry one time and I just about had a heart attack. I cleaned it out one day and then the very next day I saw more! I had to trash everything and flood the pantry with bengal. After that they were gone! I am totally scarred for life now b/c everytime I eat anything I have to check it.

It's so funny that you posted this because I seriously went through the process of debating this as we are moving in less than 60 days, and I know there is crap in there that I have never even thought about using!

You're totally reminding me that that is something I need to get on STAT. I hate having a dirty pantry. I'm much more of an organizer in the food department... ha :)

haha - this is funny b/c I organized mine just two days ago. Something about spices just being thrown on a shelf and not being neatly organized drives me crazy. However I didn't get bins...maybe I need to make a trip to Target. Great job!

Yay for organization! It looks great. I have to help my mom tackle her pantry soon, I just found weevils in there too. In a t-shirt! Now THAT is a problem!!!

I seriously wish I had half of that pantry space. I have a pantry, but it's SO SKINNY! I wish I could ask the builders what they were thinking??! Ugh.
