Before I jump into my meaningful memorable gifts let’s see how my Thanksgiving has started thus far. I am part of a big ole’ family so tomorrow I’m headed to the Bay Area with my mom, brother, auntie and cousin to drive over to get our grub on.
Well it’s not too often that the whole family is together so I decided to make my yummy Banana Cream Pie. My pie crusts come with two so I made one for my family and one for my honey’s family (who I’ll be joining in Turkey Fest after I get back tomorrow afternoon from my uncles).
Let’s discuss how this hasn’t started well.. Example below…
One of these is just not like the other..
When the recipe says cook on MEDIUM heat don’t cook it on POWER high, just because your lazy and it’s the second pie of the night, and your just dying to get on the couch and eat your mint chip ice cream cone resist and cook it on medium.
I did that if your wondering.. and the result? The pie on the right is the one that has been cooked on POWER high and not medium heat. Yup after you cook it correctly or incorrectly this is the result. Cook on medium you get a nice pretty flowing seamless and non lumpy pie, cook on high and you get a lumpy mess.
Now since I made two one for my family and one for my honey’s I’m giving my honey’s the nice one because let’s face it those are my future in-laws one day I need to make it look good. (I also messed up the cranberry sauce one year at the FIL’s house and that is my calling every year! JENN step away from the cranberry sauce!)
My family will love me no matter what, so I’m going to feed them the messed up one. They don’t care about the presentation anyways, I’ll just cover it with lots of whipped cream let’s hope they taste okay and not like they look.
Day 3 - Meaningful/Memorable Gift(s)
Something small and very insignificant but something I think about often is my #1’s Hits by Mariah Carey CD. Your probably thinking I’m crazy but this was the last gift I ever received from my nana before she passed away. I never was very close with her but she knew I loved Mariah Carey at the ripe age of 12 when she passed away she gave me the #1 Hit’s CD when I went to visit her in Oregon before she passed away.
I think about her all the time and always fear that my CD will one day stop working and that I’ll loose her forever but it’s something that I always find memorable because I don’t know how she knew I liked MC.
She also gave me a necklace all of my own and my own ring that was her mom’s and was passed down through 3 generations. I never wear it because it’s a very thin gold ring with an opal in it. But she made sure that I knew it was just for me. I have two girl cousins who are sisters on my dad’s side and it’s just them two and me and my brother who were her grandchildren. My nana lived very close to the girls but not to me so she always had a way of making me feel very special, so she gave me a necklace that was unique and personal just for me, where as my cousins had matching ones but I was my own special girl just like she always told me I was.

7 Lovely Notes:
Regardless of what it looks like...I still think those pies look yummy:)
Happy Thanksgiving
I bet the pies still taste delish! Great gifts to love!
Have a great Thanksgiving!
I love reading that story about your Grandma. What a special lady she was to you and all your cousins. There is nothing more sweet than the bond of a Grandmother and her Granddaughter.
I hope that CD lasts forever and ever ... and even if it decides to go out ... doesn't mean your Grandma or her memories won't be around still.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I am soooo blessed to have you in my life and call you my friend!
Have a great time with your family! Happy Thanksgiving!
