turkey weekend recap

alittle behind schedule but the weekend before last was the opening weekend for CRAB FEEDS! We were lucky enough to attend one early on this season here’s me and my goof ball honey enjoying ourselves.  Notice all the raffle tickets? I was like 8 numbers shy of winning a flat screen tv.  Oh I was sooo mad I didn’t win anything I normally have such good luck!

Then of course this past weekend was Thanksgiving so I went with my mom, auntie and cousin to the Bay Area to visit our family there who are the cooks of the family.   My aunt had a fun project for us to do, we made marshmallow turkeys!

Me and my cousin Megan with the turkeys!

Me being me I was being anal about the way the pretzels had to be put into the rice krispies.  Problems occur when you don’t read directions.  If you attempt these sick the pretzels in immediately after you make the circle forms.. Otherwise you’ll end up with a Jenn rice krispie nazi.

I enlisted my mom and auntie to slice open the krispies and then stuff them with the pretzels.

 20101126 017

Mom is mad I’m being a anal daughter right now.. She’s probably saying “Jenny! They won’t go in!” :) Sorry mom but they turned out cute.. Good job!

  20101126 014

First problem is that we cut them out then lathered them with peanut butter and nutella and didn’t put the pretzels in, so we were a sticky mess trying to figure it out.

 20101126 018

After smashing some to death me being a genius figured out to use Cutco knives to slice them open.

See I’m being a cooking hog..

Then after putting all the pretzels in, we added the 7 candy corns..

Then they were ready for their heads..

Their eyes were white chocolate chips upside down, topped with little frosting eyes, and candy corn noses.   They turned out pretty cute..

The family, me and my cousins, only missing my brother and our other cousin then that’s all of us, well minus auntie in the middle.

Don’t I look like the odd ball out in this sea of brown hair??

I usually joke and say that I’m a girlfriend of whatever cousin I’m standing next to..

But I swear I’m related! :)

Then we headed back to Sacramento so I could meet up with my honey’s family for their thanksgiving dinner.

Then Friday morning after shopping ONLINE for Express’s 40% off sale I took my shower and got ready for our Christmas Tree Hunting at Apple Hill with my honey.

Looking very chic if I don’t say so myself.. With my own little red posie from LOL Designs.  Plus I’m loving my white teeth.. I bought the Crest White Strips Professional Effects from Costco.. 14 days to a new bright white smile.  NOTHING BETTER THAN WHITE TEETH!

 20101126 033

We stopped at Apple Hill and got some frozen Apple Pies to take home and enjoy later!

 20101126 038

We’re on the hunt!

 20101126 039

What about this one? Don’t you just want to hug a tree? I did.. But I don’t actually like these types of trees.. LOL.. Wore my fabulous rain boots which kept me dry and warm.

20101126 040

Honey, it’s been over an hour.. where’s our damn tree..

20101126 043

He’s got it! No worries folks.. Here it is, freshly chopped and decorated for my viewing pleasure every day till Christmas and beyond!

Let’s also note I’ve only had fresh cut trees for 3 years now.. I’m a fake tree girl but now I don’t know why I wasn’t a fresh cut girl before.

Oh ya because our tree broke and half, crushed and pinned me to the fireplace when I was 2.. That’s why..  Luckily I think I can take the tree these days.

Now to only keep the dogs from not peeing on it.. Harley did once last year but he’s grown up now he should know better.

Looks like you had a great Thanksgiving! Random question pertaining to your Asian roots: Have you read any books by Lisa See? She is an Asian-American that doesn't have any of the Asian traits like you :) Anyhow, she's awesome, I just read two of her books and they rocked - Shanghai Girls & Snowflower and the Secret Fan.

Sorry for the randomocity :)
