i got the bling... now what?

I got the bling aka the ring and now I have to plan something?!

Haha that rhymed!

Coming to work for the first time since getting engaged was a whirlwind it was fun to show everyone exactly what happened and how the whole thing fell into place.

Then the questions start rolling in..

When are you getting married?

Where are you getting married?

How long till you get married?

Do you know your colors?

Do you know who's in your wedding?

When are you getting married?

AH! I don't know yet.. Lol..

We haven't even settled in from all the events of last weekend to even sit down and talk about anything and everything..

So before you all go asking those same questions you can answer my questions!

What I do know is we're probably doing a destination wedding.
We get a vacation and wedding out of it and so do our friends and family.

I'm just mostly concerned about how to go about getting a destination wedding in order.

My thought process the other morning was this...
Oh boy.. I have to find a destination I like

Oh boy.. I have to figure out who are my bridesmaids

Oh man.. I need to pick colors

But if I pick colors I need to know my surroundings and the time of year

Oh boy I get to go to Bridal Shows (enter Google search)

Ah man I missed the last Bridal Show the next one isn't for awhile!

I better start DVR'ing Say Yes to The Dress

I better go to Bella Donna Bridal and see if I can get a discount since I modeled for them.

Oh man I have to plan a wedding...

Oh man I need to save $$

Oh geeze I need to stop shopping

Oh yea and I should probably start going to the gym..

With that.. The one thing we have done is call the homeowners insurance and set up some coverage on this bad boy! :)

So my little wedding planner friends...

Give me some tips on Destination Planning
Send me some coordinators you might have used
Where you went and how it went.. Send me links!

I need HELP!!

Ahhh I hear you; everyone assumes that because you are engaged your wedding is secretly already all planned! Just take one day at a time :)

I've recently had 2 brides featured on WW that were destination brides & I'm sure they would be willing to give some advice (one even said in her post that she'd love to be a Dest. Bride resource!) Here are there stories with their blog links in case you want to contact them:

Andrea: http://867-53oh9.blogspot.com/2011/04/wedding-wednesdays-wedding-story_13.html

Also, I've heard this site is pretty good: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/

Good luck girly!

Seriously I still love your ring. It was my ideal engagement ring. Oh well haha

My wedding was not a destination one but keep in mind you may not realize the prices will still add up just as much sometimes even more so because of it being a destination. A friend from work had one in Jamaica and she was stressed so much because it's not like she got to go see everything she was paying for, just photos, which as we all know can be deceiving.
I think if you do destination, pick somewhere you know will be beautiful and you know your loved ones can afford to come to. Keep in mind they now have to travel pretty far and spend way more than they expected on the wedding(especially the bridal party).

YAYYYY! I can't help you AT ALL. Well, I do like my vacations so maybe I can offer advice on location but not in regards to weddings specifically haha

I love destination weddings!! My brother is having one on 9/10/11 in Orange Beach. Alabama. We're all so excited!! She picked a Coral type color for the bridesmaid dresses.

Here's what we are wearing, in Persimmon: http://www.alfredangelo.com/collections/styles/7016.

Love your bling!! I'm totally jealous!! I'm sure whatever you decide is going to be stunning!! Good Luck & Happy Planning!!

CONGRATULATIONS! That is so exciting, and I can't wait to hear the whole story/reveal! I can be no help whatsoever with the wedding planning, but I will say take it slow and enjoy every moment. btw- Your ring is absolutely gorgeous girl!

Sooooo fun! My cousin had the most AMAZING wedding in Riviera Maya, at an all-inclusive Secrets Hotel. And Matt and I stayed at their newest hotel, Secrets Capri two Christmas's ago and it was very W Hotel-esque and all-inclusive which is great for your guests! And I hear you on all the questions, just wait til you're married, it will be "when are you going to have a baby?!?". The questions never stop :). Congrats again!!!

I know it's not too "destination" especially from where we live, but we got married on the beach in Monterey and it was beautiful! I have heard Cabo is a good option too.

so exciting but it was a lot of stress too!! So many questions that you just don't know yet, but you'll have fun planning it all out! A destination wedding will be awesome, I didn't do one, but I've been to a few! they have been beautiful, but I would recommend planning it so you still have some private 'honeymoon' time after the wedding!

XOXO

I was a destination bride!! Here is a link to our pics and our local wedding photographers too. We choose Cabo San Lucas at the super glam Esperanza Resort. Best choice of our lives. You can see why... here is the link to our pictures. We have been in a lot of their posts haha but if you scroll down a bit you can see Josh and Kate Cabo San Lucas Part one, two, three and that's where all the goods are :)
From one Norcal bride to another, it was so worth it.

if you can afford it, HIRE A WEDDING PLANNER!!! It's nice to not have to worry about all the small stuff yourself and in the discounts they get you, they really pay for themselves. Every vendor wants to make them happy because they'll want their business again in the future which means a happy wedding for you :)

People are so damn frustrating! LOL They need to meddle and make you feel guilty for not knowing every single thing about your wedding! Argh! Don't let them get to you! Enjoy the first stage of being engaged. It's fabulous!

As for the wedding tips - the Knot is great for inspiration, but I LOVE WeddingWire. The planning, organization, budgeting and guest list tools are amazing. My wedding isn't destination, but my biggest piece of advice is do things as far in advance as possible. It will give you something to do while you wait for the date to get closer, and it will make the weeks before the wedding that much easier.

Best of luck lady! Congrats! I'm here if you ever need to vent! hahaha :)

I had a hard time picking colors. Finally I went to Home Depot in the paint section and picked out every single color card I liked. I went home and stewed over them for a long time until I picked the colors I loved. I hole punched them and put them on a key ring. I carried my "colors" with me in my purse. Every time I was out and saw something for my wedding decor I could make sure it matched. :)

Wedding blogs and websites are the best. My blog sucks www.cosmoandjuliette.blogspot.com but i have tons of wedding site links on the side bar. :)

You should apply to be a Wedding Bee! Or for the less committed, a Wedding Chicks Bride! (that's what I was) you can blog about planning your wedding and have a community to help and support you. You would be perfect!!!

I always explain it to people as, it's like the chicken and the egg....you can't plan a wedding without a location, but you can't figure out your location without a budget and guest list. So I'd say those are the big 3...budget, venue guest list. Once those are in place the rest is all details...which is the fun part! Good Luck lady! I'm excited to follow along with your planning. :)

Love the idea of a destination wedding. My hubby was in the Marines when we got married, so we made it quick and went to the county clerk's office :) If we had a real wedding, I'd pick destination. I can't tell you enough how gorgeous your ring is.
