the lil love shack

Whew! Aren't you happy that it's over now?! I can finally show you all photos of our "big secret"!!
If you were able to tune in Monday night then you saw the big reveal and our awesome backyard plus the special ending.

But if you didn't get a chance to tune in here is what you missed!

(I have a MASSIVE and I mean MASSIVE amount of photos)

But I need to figure out what to show you first...

Let's start from the beginning..

Last September we had concrete poured and then installed grass for the dogs.
Then my (then boyfriend) built the shed.
But after that it's typically rainy season so we stopped with any progress and left it as is.
Then we got some awesome news in February that we were picked to do a Turf War!
**Remember I said that was the best day ever? This was why!!**

Soon after we were given our day for our Turf War!

It's always a 2 day process starting around 10am on the first day and ending at 3pm the second day.

That's less than 24 hours of work to make a transformation like this!

The day finally arrived I made lots of prep on myself (a girl has to be tan and have nice pearly whites!)

Exhibit A: Pretty Hair which I had to put up :(
My honey and I or should I say my soon to be Fiance by day 2's end
Ahmed shows up and the cameras are ready to roll! This part (see my face) didn't make it to air THANK GOD! Because he had asked Dustin how long we had been together and I answered 4 1/2 years.  Ahmed then asked oh your past that point where she farts in front of you.  Dustin then replied "Oh ya she's bad!" GREAT honey that's perfect say that on TV!!

Moving on...
We then hit the backyard right away, I started sledgehammering the concrete border we had in place which you saw me doing in the episode.
Literally within at least 30 minutes the backyard I had known and loved and the sod I help laid was gone
Getting all the sod out of the yard
Then the crane had the shed ready to fly over to it's new resting place.

Which by the way WE DID NOT CHEAT! (They say we did, because we poured our concrete before the show) Which we did but on our own accord we got a great deal and we've been wanting to move the shed anyways.  What they don't emphasis in the show is that the other team had 2 tons of boulders dropped off before hand along with 6 redwood trees and they poured concrete and placed conduit and posts without approval from producers.  Moving on.. We didn't cheat.. It really didn't matter did it though.
There goes our flying shed to it's new home on the side of the house
His brother a welder started on a fence divider so we can make it a dog run soon after
They then dropped in our new/old vintage hot tub (I was a little skeptical at first)
Once we had a clean palate to work with we started digging out irrigation for the plants and water lines
We had LOTS and LOTS of people working on our yard it's a max of 20 people in each yard at once.  We had about 10 of our friends there to help along with the team of professionals our contractor brings.
Grass is gone, shed is moved, concrete borders removed and garden taken out.  They started cutting the concrete for the new tile inlay that would be on top.
I got to use a jackhammer (which you see on the episode) to break up some concrete that used to hold our garden posts.
My honey started welding on U brackets to the steel I beams that were our new patio posts
Everything was happening all at once it was INSANE! We started on the planter box
Ben from Fore Seasons Landscaping teaching me how to make a planter box.

More to come tomorrow! I literally have at least 3,000 photos to sort through and pick to show you gals!

I had the episode in my google alerts calendar! But, i didn't get home in time to record (and, if there is one thing you should know about me, it's that I'm the biggest procrastinator). So, I missed it! Any idea where we can catch a repeat??
