{master bedroom tour}

Today I bring to you my very first of many - home tours! I have done some small things here and there but the biggest change (expense) that I've made to the house is that I got shutters installed in the master and second bedroom.   Here is the master so far since we've moved in.

I thankfully took these the day we had the old school drapes taken down and then the shutters installed - I do like a good before and after!

(Right now the master closet and dresser is all for my boyfriends stuff.  I of course have taken the other two bedrooms as my closets and dresser areas)

This is what it looked like empty when we bought it.  Old drapes and pretty hardwood.
This is right when you walk in - we have original hardwood floors and then his dresser is right there when you walk in.  Not my style of furniture but it works for the area and I have other things I would rather spend money on right now.
Then we just threw the mattress in there, we were on the floor for a few day and then I got the bed frame and started to pull ideas together.
Also using his old nightstand hidden in the left corner there.  I do have thoughts about painting it - that may be in the future.  Also might want to paint the room.

Our house gets SOOOO much light and then since we face the street for the master, we needed privacy so I thought shutters would be the best addition as our window covers instead of blinds or drapes.
Here is it after the shutters were installed! We did find that the room was pink at some point - hence the small patches above the windows where the drapes were at.
The shutters are split 3/4 of the way up and have hidden tilt.  Because the master and the second bedroom are on the front of the house it's not as private so we can easily close the bottom half while getting ready for the day and still have light let in.
Then I found some bedding at TJ Maxx - very skeptical about using white with a dog but I really wanted it! So far so good but when it comes time I will need to take the comforter to be professionally cleaned.

Then here is it today - this past weekend I finished it up.  The headboard is from Walmart in case anyone is wondering.   It's hard to tell here - but it's a studded headboard and it's a grey color.
Then I also got the ottoman/chest at Homegoods - close up of it.
I'm happy with the way it's turned out so far.  The room has so much light it's hard to take good photos of it.  But it serves it's purpose.  Next up is wall decorations.
Harley enjoys his new spot too!

Looks so great!!!!! Seriously you did an awesome job. The shutters were a good call too- we love ours (except that our TV happens to be super reflective). I can't wait to see more!
